Wills
Making sure that you have an up to date and valid will is one of the most effective means of ensuring that, on your death, your assets are distributed in accordance with your wishes, rather than according to the provisions set down by law. These provisions set out who benefits and by how much and many people find this does not accord with what they thought would happen. A properly drafted will also enables you to take advantage of various inheritance tax saving mechanisms and allows you to protect vulnerable beneficiaries if necessary, whilst taking into consideration the preservation of assets for your family.
A properly drafted will also gives you the reassurance of knowing that your children are looked after by appointing guardians for them if they are under 18 years old and arranging for your estate to be used to pay for their schooling or to look after them by paying for their maintenance.
At Rochman Landau LLP we have considerable experience in producing wills that satisfy your particular circumstances. Over the years we have acted in a number of complex matters including dealing with multi-jurisdictional assets, we have acted for large national charities where they are the beneficiaries of wills and have been appointed by the Court to deal with cases where executors have fallen out.
